How do I...
Every task in True North as short numbered steps that name the page. The same 27 answers live inside the product, where the compass button on every page finds them and opens the page they name; administrators also get a setup checklist that ticks itself.
Getting started
- Your first sign in
Your administrator or the welcome email gave you a set-password link. It works once and for seven days.
- Turn on two-step verification
A six digit code from an authenticator app on top of your password. Required for anyone who signs records when the policy says so.
- Set up your station: the checklist
Seven steps take a new instance from empty to audit ready. The checklist ticks each one off as the data arrives.
People and shops
- Add a shop or station
A shop (station) is a place with its own people, supervisors and aircraft types. Records print its name.
- Add your people
Each person gets one account with a role, a shop and an employee ID. New hires start with the indoctrination items assigned.
- Who can do what: roles
Technicians log their own training; supervisors and training managers approve it; quality and management see every shop; the developer role changes settings.
- The 145.161 roster and employment summaries
The roster of management, supervisory and inspection personnel is printed from the people and their roles, with the employment summary each one carries.
- When a person leaves
Deactivate the account; keep the records. The rule wants two years, AS9110 wants your retention period in writing, and a departed person's binder still prints.
The program
- The training program and its items
The program is the list of training items with who needs them and how often. The manual is generated from it.
- Add a course from the Training Library
The library has 141 ready made courses. Adding one creates the lesson and links it to a program item in one step.
- Assign training to a person or a group
Training is assigned by rule, not by hand: an item applies to roles, shops and aircraft types, and every matching person gets it with a due date.
Records
- Import training history
Bring the completions you already have in from a spreadsheet so due dates start from the real history, not from today.
- Record a completion and get it approved
A technician logs the training; an approver signs it; the record is issued with the approver as signer of record and filed in the person's training record.
- Print a training binder
One person's whole record, filed by tab, as one download. This is the hour long request answered in a minute.
- Who is current: the qualification matrix
People against items, colored by status, filtered by shop and aircraft type. Check it before work is assigned.
- Certificates, ratings and other credentials
Mechanic and repairman certificates, ratings, inspection authorizations and other credentials with their expiry dates and the scan behind them.
Documents and sessions
- Issue a document to read and sign
A manual revision, a bulletin or a policy goes out to the people it applies to with a due date; the register shows who has and has not acknowledged it.
- Run a classroom session and take attendance
Schedule a session for an item, enroll people, take attendance on a phone, and the completions go to approval together.
- Fill a form on screen
The 46 kit forms and your own PDFs filled on screen, saved as filled forms with who filled them and when.
Quality
- Corrective actions and remedial training
A finding becomes a CAR; the CAR assigns the training that closes it; the record shows both ends.
- The management review pack
The numbers a review needs, printed as one pack: completion, overdue, findings, sessions, documents, with the period you choose.
- What to hand an inspector
The package an inspector asks for, and where each piece prints from. Assemble it once and time yourself.
Settings
- Set up email from your own domain
Password resets, approval notices and the weekly digest are sent from the mail server you enter, so they come from your domain.
- Your name, logo and colors
The product name, short name, logo and colors print on the pages and the documents; the organization's legal name prints on the manual and every record.
- Security settings and the event log
Require two-step by role, see failed sign ins and lockouts, review who can sign, and read the security event log.
- Backups, health and the Operations page
Hosted instances take a verified daily backup with an off-site copy; the Operations page shows the last one, the disk, the database check and the warnings.
- Change your plan
The Plan page shows what you pay for and what you use. An upgrade, another station or the library add-on takes effect within a minute; a lower plan waits for the renewal date.
Support is included in every plan: email on business days, first response within one business day, outages worked at once. A defect is fixed as soon as a fix is ready.
